Sailor Moon Retro Audio and MIDIs

Ah yes, the audio files. While I wasn't as passionate for collecting audio files as I was video files, they were still quite charming to download and listen to. However, I have always had a love for MIDI files.

For those that don't already know, a MIDI file is just a synth file, with synth notes stored in them instead of actual audio. This allowed the file to be extremely small (in the kilobytes range generally). So, when played back on say your computer, your computer's MIDI interpreter plays it back with its own synth generator. It was very popular back in the 80s and 90s for video game music development and playback since it allowed developers to store a lot of long music files on small cartridges without taking up much space. They did with the use of sound fonts as well as the hardware MIDI decoders built into the system.

Flashforward to the mid to late 90s, and even early 2000s, MIDI files found a new home with the internet. This was because most people still had slow dial-up connections and whatnot, and downloading large mp3 files was not feasible at the time, much less actually embedding them on a web page to play in the background (yes this was a thing back then, and was huge with Sailor Moon sites). Many talented Sailor Moon fans created various MIDI files over the years that often found their home playing in the background of someone's fan site. While playing an audio file on loop on a website these days would be considered somewhat obnoxious to many, it was a fun novelty at the time, especially since it wasn't like you were gonna be listening to much music elsewhere online. I wish I could give credit to the talented people who created these Sailor Moon MIDI files, but it's not something that's easy to find. But your hard work was much appreciated!

I've also included various audio files from the show that have that lovely nostalgic low quality some of you, at least me, might enjoy. This includes some extra stuff as well such as goodies from fandubs (mainly Mark Sprague's Fandub).

Lastly, I've included the "Last Modified" date. This is just simply the date my computer reports as the last modified date. Generally, this is when the file was originally downloaded (by me of course), though it can be off sometimes depending on circumstances. But it should give you a general idea of the time when the file was created.
